Managing AddIns
In this article:
When launching EventIDE for the first time, one of the essential setup steps is to enable all relevant AddIns needed for your experiment. AddIns extend the functionality of EventIDE by providing access to additional elements and tools tailored to specific tasks—such as hardware integration, signal processing, eye tracking, and more.
Understanding AddIns
Each AddIn contains one or more Elements, grouped according to their functionality. For example, an AddIn for eye tracking might include multiple elements for calibration, data acquisition, and live display.
By default, only the Base Elements AddIn is enabled.
This AddIn includes the fundamental tools required for basic experiment design.
It cannot be disabled, as it is essential for the software to function.
All other AddIns are optional and must be manually enabled based on the needs of your project.
Accessing the AddIns Manager
To manage AddIns, follow these steps:
Click the Application Menu Button (top-left corner).
Select AddIns Manager from the menu.
Note: When opening the AddIns Manager for the first time, it may take several minutes to load the full list of available AddIns—this is normal and only needs to be done once.

Using the AddIns Manager
The AddIns Manager opens in a separate window. Its layout includes:
A list of all available AddIns on the left side.
A description panel on the right side.
As you navigate through the list:
Hovering over an AddIn shows a description of its purpose and use cases.
Clicking on an AddIn expands it to reveal the list of included elements.
Hovering over individual elements displays a detailed description in the right-hand panel.
Next to each AddIn's name is a toggle button that allows you to enable or disable it.

Special Requirements
Some AddIns require additional permissions or installations before they can be enabled:
License-restricted AddIns (e.g. the Phase Locking AddIn) require both a standard EventIDE license and a separate AddIn-specific license.
Driver-dependent AddIns (e.g. Kinect Tracking, National Instruments DAQ) require specific drivers to be installed on your system before they can be activated.
These restricted or driver-dependent AddIns are marked with a red triangle in the AddIns Manager, indicating that additional setup or licensing is needed.
Final Step: Restart EventIDE
After enabling or disabling AddIns, you must restart EventIDE for the changes to take effect.
Tip: Only activate the AddIns you plan to use in your experiment. This helps keep your workspace uncluttered and improves loading performance.
